So cutter on left is regular 3/8 chisel? C33 = ? Same as 33RS?
No on 3/8 and no on 33RS. No clue where you pulled that from.

Left pic is 23RS 325, C33 is husky new 325 chain. C33 middle pic new left compared to 23RS used right.

Been out for a bit now.

C33 325 new out of box and reel. Surprising they even do rakers in factory.

It seems that many new small saws like to use 0.050" 3/8" LP (picco or pico) chain. Older pro saws tend to use 0.062" 0.325" chain.

Which will cut faster on the same saw? Lets assume a good LP chain (for example Oregon 91VXL OR something better still if it exists) since there are a lot of safety type chains out there.

3/8" means less teeth and less sharpening. LP means shorter bites and thinner kerf. This should give higher saw speeds I'd think. Why waste power with a thicker kerf? I know on my circular saws I like thin kerf if the cut quality doesn't matter. I notice a power increase by thinning the kerf.

For those who've compared good fast chains in each, is it worth switching one way or the other?
Reusefull has a channel on YouTube that has an extensive library of chainsaw videos. In a few of them; he makes chain comparisons. I think he generally doesn't like.325 chains; when compared to 3/8 and 3/8lp.

Posts not labeled nor clearly described. I used to do technical writing and journal publications.

Your post #2, 2nd picture of two cutters, left and right one. What are they?

What is C33, pitch/profile/gauge? If I understand right 23RS is .325/normal profile/0.050.

I'm keeping my .325/normal/.063, chains/bars for my 50cc saws. They are all happy, cut good, and are OEM Stihl not AM/Chi-Com junk.

Ya I am done here. Not even going to play this game. It is already mentioned. GL

Stihl and husky isnt chicom junk yet that i know of. :dizzy:

The guy in post 1 wants fastest That is essentially full sized .325. It makes for bigger chips hence better if stuff moves and pinches, but there is a limit to that as well. Say the Nk stuff is 85% of full sized. Stihl is a little vague but in Oregon full sized 20,21,23 whatever the 0.063 or 1.6mm one is is for up to 62cc. Nk to 55cc.
I thought the only difference between 0.325 050 and 063 was the drive link width (basically they would cut the same)?

Like @Mad Professor I already have the bar and chains for .325 063 so I can't see any reason to change at this point.

I've run 325 050 for as long as I can remember. No way I would ever switch my stuff over to 325 063.

I just have to make locals chains up for their homeowner stihls running that crap.
When ever their bars and chain run out I will be telling them about the 050 stihl though.

But this guy just went with a new Tsumura set up so prob be a long time coming.

Some other 050 325 chains from the past. All 325 to be clear. ;)

OK have a hissy fit. :crazy2:

You have not stated what specs on"C33" are, too much to ask for that from You. The cutters appear much larger, if that is used 23RS next to it. Is it .325 .050? You won't tell

Most of my Stihls and NOS spare parts are German made P/C sets/bars/chains sprockets/gasket sets/hoses rubber, I even have a stash German Bosch spark plugs , not red China ones. If you shop for them, can still find Jap made NGKs

I'll take a good OEM part off one of my parts saws carcasses, before I'll buy an AM one. And yes Steal and Husqavarmint are starting to source parts from the CHI-COMS1 bosch 3.jpg1 bosch 2.JPG

Well hate to tell ya I run out of my German made Bosch I ran.

So get ready for Brazil China Mexico Taiwan Russia Japan etc etc etc.

To many failures even with ngk now days even japan made ones. 👎

I switched to Japan Denso myself.👍

In Stihl that was true. It no longer is that the 0.050 and 0.063 use the same preset tie straps. The drive link was necked down to 0.050 or 0.058 (1.3 or 1.5) as needed until a few years ago. For like Oregon it seems the tie straps for the NK are the same sheet stock as the 3/8lp and the 20, 21, etc is a thicker sheet stock. The 3690 RS has cutters that are different, narrower and the side edge does not taper back much.

Better put another coat of wax on your precious.

Just a tool to me.

Got a sign over my bench for folks like you.

That one is a straight gassed 036 I got free. All the internals and wear parts were replaced with OEM/NOS Stihl. It's like new. Jealous You are!

Not like the crummy worn out bars you posted.

And I avoid dealers/stealers like Yourself. Tool.

My Stihl dealer, was Billy Bratcher, Bennington Vt for 40 years. He retired. Wonderful Human, unlike Yourself.

So what is a "C33"? You can't answer that cause You don't know...........

How about do some homework, with a caliper and measure both? No? I thought so TOO LAZY!!!
