How much more grunt does this bad larry have over the 395 stock to stock using say, a 36 in bar?

I have not had the pleasure of running a 395 but in comparison to my 385 a lot more. The 385 is faster by leaps and bounds but the 3120 just does not slow down. I think I have the rakers set to .035 on my 36" and Gloria just pulls happily. I love the idle tone of the 3120.

we have a 3120 at work and everybody hates it. We run 395s and 385s when for our bigger saws

a lot of us dont like the weight and its big and bulkey. when your hanging off the crane or chunking out wood the 395 is fine. nobody likes it

I run mine mostly on the 42in....up the tree or on the ground it sinks in beautifully. No complaints here.

If i only need a 36" bar to cut something, i always reach for the 395. The 3120 is excellent for longer, but i've never thought it was needed for a 36". I'll bury the 395 with that length bar in wood most every day and it piles chips without a problem-and in fact i personally think it's a bit quicker than the 3120 with that length.
Now if i'm over 36", then the 3120 comes out. But i might be a bit prejudiced, i've loved the 394/395 for a long time and it's become my everyday saw.

3120 with a 5 foot bar works good for our big sticks. 395's and 660's with 32"-
42" bar work well.

I keep wanting to get an 880 with a 48" bar and .404 chain to see what it's all about.

Sounds like I can make due with the 395 for now than. I was looking for an excuse to round out the arsenal.......

Port a 395 or 660 and I think you won't think about another big saw again. I have a couple 660's and a 394 I'd like to have done.

I'm not partial to either brand saw, but my husky's have treated me well. I'd like to have my 346 worked on, maybe the 395 too. Anyone know of a guy in or around Boston?

I take my 2 saws to a guy in lexington, hes never led me wrong and has good prices on husky stuff. doesn't do stihl. The 2 companies i used to work with deal exclusively with him. PM me if you want his address

I've got a buddy with a 3120 and side by side my 395 eats it up. Although when in the big stuff 36 and up he slowly walks away. It is big heavy and intimidating, but real nice too see in the line up. I've been debating the purchase myself but just dropped the clutch in the dump. Enough said.

simply put the 3120 is for huge stuff,we have it with a 6' bar we used it on a log where just 1" of the bar was sticking out the other side it did really really well

3120 isnt for speed at all in my opinion anything less than a 5' bar get 395 -or 85 ,the 95 is a great saw pretty damn quick and also imo is plenty

so 3' bar -85-95,trust me

we had the 3' bar on the 3120 once and i didnt like it at all like said above its a power/torque saw not speed and agility ,would never recomend 3120 up a tree or in a bucket

I love the 3120, for making trunks into bits to get off a work site, with a 28 inch bar it makes the 66's, 394 and 395's feel like toys. We have 88s which are just as good but the 28 inch makes the 3120 a hard hitting snubnose.

It all depends what you want to spend your money on. 3120 is a nice saw and I'd love to have one in my arsenal but I already have a 066 and a 395 so it's hard to justify that much $ for something I wouldn't use too often. I think you'd do better to spend that money on some paint. lol

3120 is alittle bulky have an 084 with 36 and 48 inch bar havent found a
saw that can touch it in the big wood

Unless you are working with huge wood, the 3120 is a waste of money, especially if you are just using it to cap stumps.

32 lbs power hear with 8.4 Hp.

I run a 385 x 36in w/ full skip and have very little problem.

I have found it better to keep a collection of bars and chains then to have a wide range of saws. Better to invest in back-up for the often used saws then to have a monster on reserve.

MSRP on the 3120 is $1730

the 395 xp is $1130 so you can add in a 346xp at $490 and still have a few bucks left over for spare chain.

For the average arborist a 3120 is more of a penis extension then a necessary tool.
