3120 Owners!

For the average arborist a 3120 is more of a penis extension then a necessary tool.

For the $700 I paid for that penis extension I'll take it! You know it is more about the girth then length right? :cheers:
The 3120 is a boat anchor and will wear you down real fast I use mine for big stumps and that is about it. I like using it a few times a year other than that she just sits.
 
You can find a 3120 in decent condition for under a grand.

I have a 3120 and a 394. It's good to have 2 saws w/ 3 foot bars. It takes forever to sharpen one so it's nice having the other handy. I am currently running a 24" bar on the 3120 and it's a beast. It doesn't even need to be sharp haha which is great when you are bucking big palms since they dull your chain so quick (though that is not much of an issue in Mass!)

If you can find a good deal definitely get it. Bar length I think is a bigger factor in fatigue than the weight of the saw itself. I have been using mine quite a bit lately with the 24" and it's really not that much of a difference from the 394. Just use the weight of the saw to your advantage when you are ripping into wood.
