Wanted to try .325 on MS361, had a old 18" .325 bar, So I bought a .325 9T
rim sprocket (can only get 9T). Also had a very used .325 18" loop, chain
would not fit.........had to put BC and sprocket on together to get it to fit.
Was pleased with the way it cut. Stopped at dealer today, had him make
me a loop of .325 RS W/75 drivers not 74, 75 drivers fit the 9T perfect.
Put it to a 28" dia seasoned White Oak log........It will cut, to get the saw
to bog, had to lean into it a lot harder than I would ever want to cut wood.

Don't know how it will stand up, Only made 4 cuts, storm run me to the house
Yes another hack palying in the back yard :)

Does it cut any faster with .325?

Even by dogging it through the wood, does it gain some speed over 3/8th at all?

Honestly I dont know......it seems to, but the 3/8 BC is 20"
I know it don't take near as much to dog it down with the
3/8 7T........I will need to do some real cutting.............but
best guess it will cut faster with the .325 BC than a .375 BC
start using long BC and I think the .375 will be faster.

Stihl says in their catalog here that you need an extra DL with 9-pin .325 - not a surprice to me........:D :D

I hardly believe that, 8-pin 3/8" is probably better, unless the bar is a 13" or so (chip clearance, if nothing else).....

8-pin 3/8" and 9-pin .325 will give you practically the same chain speed, while 8-pin .325 will be slightly faster than 7-pin 3/8" (for theoretic chain-speed).

IMO you will have no problem with chip clearance with .325 18" bar
and in 16" dia wood .325 has 13 cutters in the wood, .375 has
11 cutters in the wood so in 16" dia wood you have about 18%
more cutters in the wood, If you have the power the .325
should be faster...........I really don't care, it's fun to play with :)
