Hi

I've seen a Husky 335xpt going fairly cheap, just getting into the game so don't really want to falk out on a 338/200 yet. I've hurd mixed things about the 335 that is a unreliable pig to its a great little saw.

Its probally not going to be used much is it worth the investment or should i leave it and wait for a 200/338 to come along? Also whats a reasonable second hand price for a 335.

Thanks.

Andy

You're in UK right?

I have no idea what they're worth new or second hand.

I do know that you are going to get a deluge of opinions from its great to its junk.

Perhaps you should have posted this in the chainsaw forum ...

... when the saws going well it's a little ripper, but when it's not, which is often, it's a pig.

I have owned one, also a Shindaiwa top handled, Echo top handled but there's nothing like a ms200. :)

I had one also it ran great, but would not oil properly, so it sat in the truck most of the time. If you are just starting out and don't want the cost of the 200, which is the best IMO, try the 192T at about 1/2 the price with 1/3 less power, or get a top handle echo. Echo a bit heavier than the stihl, and not as fast, but it would make a good entry level saw. Be careful.

Ive got 2 and they have been in my tool shed for about 18 months id buy\take on a used one if someone gave me money to take it .

I've also got a 335xpt sitting in my toolshed.

I'd sell it to you cheap, Mr Brushcutter, but you have never given me any reason to so dislike you.

When the stars align and the moon is just so, the 335 is a great cutter. Lots of power. Ten minutes later, it decides that you need a cardio workout on a pull-cord. If you get past that, it figures you've earned a break, and pops the chain-oiler gear sideways.

On the upside, the sparkplug cover was cleverly designed to be easily removable without tools. So clever, it removes itself. Frequently. So clever, there are two retrofit kits for it, one that almost works, and one that finally just screws the ???? thing down. In one corner. So that it cracks. Problem solved.

I've seen on eBay how pricey used chainsaws are in the UK.

I'd still wait on a 200T.

personally i would pass on a 335 mine gave nothing but trouble, spark plug cover kept falling off, it never ran well, i found it underpowered compared with a 200T, i would personally go with a 200T everytime it may cost more but its money well spent. you dont need a PITA saw when working

Thats the most amusing thing i've read all day :)

And does no-one else think that the filler caps are a pain in the butt, right up against the handle, and that the air filter is up front so it suks in the debris straight of the chain?

I like my 335xpt...it sets in front of the chipper tire as a wheel choke. Its good for that.

It never would oil good from day 1.

I cant believe husky would put a pro climbers saw on the market that is such a piece of junk.

I run there ground saws and love them!!!

I replaced the 335 with a echo cs-341 top handle. For the money it is a good saw.

noone really likes it then, makes for ammusing reading. boss offered me one for free to use on any homers, with the comment of dont expect 2 fills out of it, it only does one then needs to rest for the rest of the day, bit like one of our guys really.

I like the true 335 just fine , however the Cali models are the one that give me fits . The new non cali 338 is a beast and I love it dearly . Clean your oil intake for the oiler regularly , clean your air filter every hour of operation modify your airfliter cover , requires cleaning filter more often , and drill out the muffler with a 5/8 - 3/4 drill bit and it will run like a raped ape
