I got my new husky 359 friday of last week. Saturday i took her out cut for about 3 hours ran great. Got it out Sunday to finish up what i didn't finished and it won't start. I pulled on that thing for about 2 hours:angry2: and no good. So i pulled the plug and it was soaked in fuel. I blew it off and it fired. so i finished up ran great. So tonight I'm thinking I'm gonna split some rounds i didn't get to Sunday because I wasted so much time with it not starting and it won't start. I pulled the plug and it was soaked in fuel. Ive mess with it for about an hour and gave up for the night. I know my gas is good my green P.O.S runs fine out of the same can os gas that I got friday night, and it runs fine when it runs I bought it from Amicks online. anybody got any ideas before I call them.

Are you using the choke? When it "pops" do you immediately take off the choke and start with out it?

A buddy of mine bought a 359 on my recommendation and flooded it right out of the box. They seem to flood somewhat easily when choked.

At the first sign of a pop, or any fire at all, take the choke off (push in) and it should fire right up.

Hot or warm no choke needed at all!

No i'm leaving the choke out/on. ill try leaving it off/in and sees what happens. Its a great saw when it runs.

Firestarter,

Good! This should be really simple then.

I pull 3, maybe 4 times if I have not run for a while and its dead cold. It will usually pop /cough / fire. STOP. Push choke all the way in and you should be in business.

I've not had one issue with this saw other than my wife complaining that all I want to do on the weekend is cut wood!

Well i couldn't wait until tomorrow to try, so i walked out to the garage look at my saw brought it outside pushed the choke in/off 4 pulls nothing, no pop choke nothing. pulled the plug, soaked. So i blew it off put it back in 3 pulls it ran OMG it RAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! so I let it warm up chopped up a log or 2 to run a heat cycle. It so good to hear that puppy run. Now i hope i can do it again tomorrow.
skytow thanks for your help and fast response.

when 2 cycle plugs get fouled better off to throw it away and buy a new one. id put a new plug in it.. should start and run alot better..

That's right, and move the choke to off after about 3 pulls, if nothing has happened in the mean-time.

With my 359 I don't even put the choke on unless the saw doesn't kick over in about 5 pulls. However, whenever I start the saw cold at first I pull the choke on then push it off before cranking. This choke on/then off sets the high idle speed. When the saw fires up I quickly squeeze the throttle and the idle speed drops back to normal.

When the saw is warmed up it usually just starts with a pull or two, no choke fiddling.

If it doesn't start this way then I put the choke on for a couple of pulls to get some fuel into the carb and push it off. This is per my instruction manual.

Does this make sense to you? Good luck! I think the Husky 359 is a great homeowners saw (as is my Husky 55 Rancher). Plenty of juice in the nice sized package!

I would not put the 359 in the same class as the 55, it has a lot more going for it than that. It is more in the class with the 357. Calling it "home owner" is not giving credit where credit is due.

second that, 359 is pro saw by any means....

But you should work up your starting techniqu if you manage to flood it everytime...

Sorry to offend with my "homeowner" comment. Where I live all the homeowners have lots of timber to cut so chain saws are heard almost every weekend.

The spec sheets would seem to indicate the 359 and the 55 Rancher are different. But I don't notice any difference between the two when cutting wood.

The 359 has a decompression valve, side position chain tensioner, and that's about it. I can swap bars and chains between the "55 Rancher" and the 359. They seem to weigh and feel the same. Same throttle feel also. They hold about the same amount of fuel. The 359's cover pops off with clips so it is a little easier to clean it and to change the plug and filter but pulling a couple screws out of the 55 Rancher's cover is a piece of cake.

I'm not in the arborist business so I really can't speak as to what saws the "big boys" use 24/7. I was under the assumption it was a Husky saw who's name ended in "XP" and had a bar at least 26".

I'd like to try the 357"XP" some time to see what the difference is when actually cutting. I don't know anything about the "455 Rancher" which is the updated version of the "55 Rancher" and seems very similar from the spec sheets to the 359.

What are the major differences?

I think if you put a good sharp chain on anyone of these puppies the chips will fly fast and furious.

Oh don't worry i read the owners manual. Thats what flooded the saw. anyway I bought a new plug tonight on the way home, put it in pulled choke out pulled 3 times, it popped. pushed choke in pulled 3 times and she ran. I went out to the wood pile cut a few rounds and it runs great. Thanks guys I figured there was a trick to it I just need to be told what not to do.:rockn:
