361 & a 24"

This probably isn't helpful, but my stock German made 361 are a "killer" for accelleration, but the L screw is slightly fatter (out), compared with how the dealer set it (according to earlier advice on AS, believe it was Jokers)......
Max WOT was at 14080 rpms, the last time I checked (15" bar, 3/8", 8-pin sprocket).

My wifes 5100S is definately slower for accelleration so far, but that one isn't run in yet, while the 361 is close to tree years old.......

Check your spark plug color then replace it with a new one silver bosch not platimum type not ngk either perform a compression test . Im currently building a 036 that will be running a dual port muffler 16" bar 8 tooth & 044 dogs that will make it more like a 15" .On my 044 dual port Im running a 20" bar with big dawgs that make it more like a 18 ". That saw just screams Walkers the man for ported muffs and very honest people. Next step will be a 066 that I plan on using 25 & 32" bars on dual port . Here in Ca. there is ethenal in the mix & will be going up to 10 0/0 in a couple more years so will run them at 40-1 mix. I have heard af a few reports of a few defective carburators out of Stihl lately. If that thing has been running lean & keep the plug I would demand a new saw if it warrents it. LOL

I am sure you can put/run a 36" bar on a 361 and it would cut.........barely!!!

On bars above 20" I think it all depends on what you consider acceptable performance!!!


The only 361's I have are both modded and are good runners............no desire to put anything bigger than a 16-18" bar, that is what the 372,7900,441 etc. are for!!!

Your going to have to be more specific. Just because something is more expensive doesnt necessarly mean its the best. In my book Bosch black stripe arent worth the powder to blow them to hell & NGK are no better. Any way it sounds like the problems with the carburator. Lets see who correct there .

I thought you guys knew better than that. You don't find women fishing for pike and muskie, or whilst tying flies. Nor at the gym or at work...I'm just S.O.L. I was recently the best man in a wedding, and the maid of honor is calling me every so often....she's only 14 years older than I am and lives 3,000 miles away. She's a looker though...
