Husqvarna says that up to a 372XP or 575XP will fit in their Powerbox case. AS member alderman, gave me the interior dimensions in another thread I started, and I know the height of my Olympyk. Could someone please get a measurement of the height of their 372XP or 575XP to the top of the chainbrake handle in the up and down positions (disengaged and engaged positions)? From looking at pictures of these saws and comparing to my Olympyk, it looks like they're close in height.
Reason for my madness is to see if my saw will fit in a Powerbox using dimensions instead of going to a Lowes (closest is about an hour away) with my powerhead and physically trying to see if it fits...would probably get some looks...:).

371 w/ half-wrap handlebar & 'high-top' measured dimensions:

Heights: 11.25" w/ brake 'on' (forward) - 12.5" w/ brake 'off' (rearward)

Length: 18" w/ brake 'on' (no felling dawgs installed, but appears the brake handle would be the most 'forward' part anyway)

Width: 10"

My 372 is the right version, i e the low-top, so it will not be typical of the US ones......

According to pictures I've seen of the 372, the highest part is the top of the chainbrake handle.

Thanks for that! Not to be a jerk, but would those dimensions also apply to a 372 (vs 371)? I wouldn't know if there where any design changes.

From the research I've done, the only significant external change was that the chain adjuster moved from the case front to the clutch cover for the 372... otherwise, pretty much the same saw.

Once again, thank ya. Your overall length dimension got me to thinking about checking my saw for the length with the brake 'on'.
Another question in my mind is if the saw in the Powerbox picture I posted has the chainbrake 'on' or 'off'...compared to your saw, what would you say?

If I had to guess, that pix looks like the handle is forward (brake 'on'.) but mine is an older saw and it has a good bit of free travel when 'off.'

In other words, I can pull it all the way back to the handlebar, (and in that position, it's apprx 13" high) but it can freely travel forward to a 'neutral position' apprx 3" in front of the bar. Engaging the brake snaps it forward another 0.75" - 1".

I pulled another measurement, and with the brake 'on', stood a level up and from the most forward part of the handle, it extends apprx 1.5" beyond the front of the crankcase.

Hope that helps some.

Thanks again for the measurements. I think I'll still take my powerhead to a Lowes and see if they have a Powerbox in stock and try it out.
