Many decades ago I searched for a device that could attach a cable to a come-along, had to be easily adjusted and not kink or damage the cable. Couldn’t find one so I made my own. Find anything similar? Other thing I found works for a large rope but won’t grip a small cable.

Very nice! Both design and execution.

As for similar, I'll try to remember to add a photo of a couple grippers I built for stretch straightening large copper bars when I'm back to my desk.

Similar idea, but the grip is on the inside. Holds Ø2" copper bars. For size context, the cylinder rod in the last photo is 3-1/2" diameter.

I use the Haven grip type by Klein. I prefer the type grips that have the addition side plate latch the keeps the cable retained as the grip slides also the cable. (the grip won't fall off the cable when given slack)

I stumbled onto several different sized Klein Haven grips in a pile at a garage sale at junk prices. The women doing the garage sale did not know what they were for and I did bother them with facts.

A real lucky stumble. Add that to a list of things that most people have never seen, like a pickaroon or a pulp hook.
