Opinions wanted. I have a 394 I got used a while back that I use primarily for milling. I am going to open the muffler and what I was thinking was either making or ordering a deflector sheild and put on the front of the muffler with the exhaust flowing down, as straight toward the ground if it was sitting on the ground. My thinking is, that way it will blow the exhaust down the log away from me while milling and not back at me. I think I saw in one of Gypo's pictures, he had a Stihl set up simmilar to this. What do you think?

Thanks,
Doug

I come into positions carving when it blows in my face. It burns and messes up your nose real good. sounds like a good idea. I dont have a problem with it that often though. Just cut a piece of the muffler cap out vertical an weld a little 3 sided rain gutterlike piece on it.

I got my saw used and that part on the muffler is gone.

Doug , it looks like you could make a thin cut with a dremel at the bottom of the small protrusion that is about 1" above the bolt holes then carfully pry open to make a louvre . Another option would be to cut a D hole in the muffler between the lower bracket bolt holes and form a piece of sheet metal to make the bolt on louvre . Scott
