These 80 year old pines were taken out from beside a elderly lady's house not too far from where I live. She could not afford to pay to have these trees removed and she was in tears because she was afraid that another one may fall and hit her house. She had one fall already,it didn't hit her house and she was very lucky. If either of these trees did hit her house it would have demolished it....The smallest tree was 32 inches in diameter and 83 feet tall. The biggest was 48 inches and 91 feet.In all six trees there was just a little over 6000 board feet of wood.I felt bad for her,and agreed to cut the trees for the logs.It worked out well because there was a sawmill within 10 minutes of the place that was paying premium price for white pine. This was done on a Friday.I had my crew start another job,and I took one helper,my New Holland,my grapple truck and my new 395 husky to tackle this job...I don't normally do a job with this small amount of timber just for the wood, but I really wanted to help this lady out because any of us could be in her situation some day...I hope ya'll enjoy..

I'm trying to get all of these pics on two posts. These trees had to be fell at a weird angle because there was a power line that ran diagonally through them...That saw is sport'n a 28 inch bar.I figured this was going to be an all day project, and we had the last tree down and worked up by lunchtime.I told her I was going to have to leave the brush behind since I was doing it for the wood, but there was so much brush,I felt bad,so yesterday I sent my guys over there to chip it.

Awesome pics!!!

Thanks Timberhauler!

Gary

Thanks Gary....I also failed to mention that this was the first time I really had to put that 395 into some big wood.I had a full comp chain on that 28 inch bar,and it didn't hardly even load the motor.I was able to cut my notch, cut through the tree and get out of the way before it even thought about falling....I have a job coming up that has 20 white and red oaks coming out. Those trees are just as big and bigger. That will be the real test.If I have the time,I'm gonna take pics of the job as it goes along and post em'.I've gotta wait until we get a long spell of dry weather before I tackle that one.

Way to go! Glad to hear that there are still a few good folks left in this world today - just remember, do good things and good things happen! Someone will take care of you when you least expect it, but need it most! Hats off to you, Timberhauler

I say sometimes it is the right thing to do, and it sounds like this was one of those times.

The problem I run into all the time is that people pass stories around about how much trees are worth, and quite easily get it into their head that their trees should be valuable enough that crews should be eager to take them down just for the wood. Normally it just aint so, but I bet a week doesn't go by where I don't get someone wanting me to take a tree down and deal with the limbs just for the wood. I run for the hillls when that happens, as I know we will never both be satisfied with any arrangement.

Thanks guys........This Woman honestly wanted to pay to have this done...She was so upset trying to figure out how she was gonna come up with the cash.I was really glad I did this for her,as I ended up with less than half of the time I figured....It didn't even take my guys three hours to chip the brush either,I figured they'd be there all day...So roughly six hours to do what I thought would easily take two to two and a half days.

How many trees did "chic" cut ??? It's nice to here that there are people out there willing to help others out " just because". way to go.

I haven't graduated her to falling trees yet....She did do a good bit of the limbing and bucking...She spent the majority of the time taking pics and loading logs with the grapple truck.

He didn't tell anyone that he damm near took out that power line twice due to the angle it was in relation to the trees...Luckily I'm off on Friday's so that's when I get to help him mostly...I'll enjoy telling ya'll what he leaves out on some of these stories.I guess the fact that he didn't hit it is all that matters.:hmm3grin2orange:

Good Job

It's always good when you can help people out, make a little money and have a good time. I personally would love to get that much time on the saw to keep improving and learning. Way to go.

This one is my 10 month old daughter attempting to carry the big husky out to the truck for me that same morning. It looked as if she was trying to start it up for me for a minute.I couldn't resist...Then it got the best of her.I guess you're never too young to learn those big saws can kickback with some brute force

Won't be long and she is going to want her own saw! What are you going to get for her? C
