Hello everyone. I have 4 saws here that I am willing to let go. I am willing to cover shipping, however, I ask for your grace and patience because it may take some time to get these out.

I have struggled with an addiction to pornography since I was in high school. Not long after a big setback a few years ago, I occupied my time with chainsaws. I was constantly online reading forums, watching videos, learning repair techniques, and familiarizing myself with many of you (for which I am very grateful).

I attended a men’s retreat through our church a couple years ago, and God met me there. He convicted me in a big way by revealing to me that I was replacing one addiction with another (chainsaws), and that I was attempting to replace a void in my heart that only He could fill. While this was hard, I knew He was calling me to give away the thing that I was essentially using to try to replace Him. Fast forward 2 years, and here I am, still holding the saws, and even attempting to sell a couple of them. Guess what…. Not one response for either of those postings, and I know that’s also for a reason. While I am currently not struggling with ****, I was convicted again to follow through with what he had called me to do.

While chainsaws are still an essential part of my lifestyle (we heat with wood), I know that the obsessive, repetitive, dopamine-releasing habits that I developed during my chainsaw fanaticism were keeping me from him as well. The saws aren’t the problem, I am the problem.

God has been so good to me. He has blessed me with a beautiful and faithful wife, 3 amazing children, and family and friends who I would trade for none other. Overall though, He has a plan and a purpose for me. He wants to use me despite my stupid/ harmful/ shameful habits and stubborn tendencies. He wants my heart, he wants me to rely on Him above ALL else, and He wants me to share this with you.

If some of my challenges and heartache can help even one person here, that is my only hope. If you can use a saw that I have, then please reach out on here. Everything is time stamped, so ALL will be first come, first served. One saw per person please, and please remember that these will take some time to ship out, so if you need something fast, I will likely not be able to accommodate. I will do my best to update the post to mark what is spoken for.

May God bless you all.

Wow. What a testimony. God bless you brother.

I'd also be interested in the Stihl. I'm a new member and do not have a saw yet. I joined to learn more about saws. I do love tinkering and recently thought about buying a saw to rebuild. My property is only about an acre, but has lots of big trees surrounding it. Sounds like a fun journey.

I will take the Homelite Super 2 if no one has claimed it. Absolutely no hurry on shipping. I am a little conflicted. I'm not sure if I am helping you by taking it, or taking advantage of you.
My friend, I will keep you in my prayers. You have grown in ways that most men will never achieve. God bless you and keep you.

I wanted it too, but I didn't say anything. I feel the same as you. His post made me take a hard look at my own life. I need to make it more God and less me.

At least an addiction to chainsaws can be constructive. Try to not replace an addiction to saws with an addiction to God, he put us here for a reason and "balance" is key. Making a schedule of things you want to accomplish and sticking to it "religiously" helps.

"God gave us chainsaws... that we might cut wood... for His glory... forever and ever... Amen"

OP: God wants you to be happy. He doesn't want you to punish yourself. Breathe in... breathe out... stay away from the internet... and pr0n... and stuff you personally know you should avoid lest you fall into temptation...

But maybe God wants you to just stop buying saws and doesn't want to punish you? Maybe the guys giving your saws a good home could pay for shipping? Because it seems like you paid enough already, fella.

Remember: No man can judge us--that includes ourselves, right? God is our judge... not me, not YOU... certainly nobody on this interweb site... so... maybe leave the judging in His capable hands and let Him decide what to do with you... maybe even keep your saws and just stop buying more of them if you've decided that is your problem?

Addiction is a fact of life for some humans... replacing one with another is in fact *exactly* how most humans successfully manage. Some addictions are unhealthy... some ARE healthy.

Some addictions... like "I'm addicted to breathing air" never get unhealthy... but some... say... even exercise... can be taken to an unhealthy extreme.

I'd gladly cover shipping, which I didn't mention in my original response, but I think is only reasonable.

I would have taken it too and reimbursed the shipping when I got or matched with a donation somewhere like Samaritan's Purse.

Thanks everyone for your kind words and encouragement. The first 4 guys who mentioned a saw are the ones who get them. I am more than happy and grateful to cover shipping. If you feel the need to give money, please bless someone else who is in need. This isn’t about the money for me.

I still own some saws, but all are in functioning order. I am hopeful that chainsaws will be a part of my life as long as God allows it.

I don’t see this as punishment, but as an opportunity for growth. Those project saws, for me, were an attempt to fill the God void. He has called me to give them away, so I will.

I truly am grateful for this community and all of the information here. There are so many people with such amazing skills and knowledge. Thanks for being a part of my learning process. I plan to pass as much of it on to my boys as possible. I have an 8 year old who comes cutting with me and runs a little makita battery powered saw (under close supervision of course). He loves it, and I love being with him. God is good, and I have no complaints. Thanks all!
