Cylinder Kit?

Is it just me, but that after market 038 kit shows only 1 ring and a hole on the side, like a Husky compression release. Mike.

The cylinder kit does not look like any 038 piston and cylinder must be a stock photo for something else.
Nice looking group of saws, it would drive me nuts to part with them even if I did not use them that much. Nice 038 Skwerl, you starting to turn in a Stihl nut now? :) 038 mag is a great saw, built like a tank, wish they had a side chain adjuster, not really a bad thing, but it would be nice.

The 038 Magnum was my first 'big saw' purchase in the mid 80's. Prior to that I had a few new and used Poulans. That 038 Mag was an important part of my first 10 years as a treeman. When I let it go, the compression was weak and the rear handle had been broken after meeting up with the rear tire of my truck. I gave it to my employer under the condition that he fix it and I'd be the one using it for as long as I was employed there. He put about $250 in it and I ran it another year before I left. Later I found out that the shop foreman stole it when he quit. That was 7 years ago.

This one will live a pampered life. :D

440 was sold and shipped out already. The only saw I have left from this group is the 028. Thanks

Also, check you PM box, I sent you a PM about the burned up 440 you have for sale.

Hey Tom,
Just to let you know the 038Mag arrived today. Took me a good 10 minutes to fight my way through all the styrofoam peanuts and bubblewrap. The saw is beautiful, much nicer than I expected. It's also much heavier than I remembered, but it is so well balanced with the brand new Stihl 24" bar and chain I bought for it today. I normally run GB on my Huskys but I couldn't do that to this old gal.
I'm going to take it out tomorrow and give her a good workout dicing up a big Live oak I cut down last week. Timistall and I will both bring our arsenals and have some fun running all the saws. I doubt I'll use it for production work but I will run it a few times per year to keep everything working well. I feel like a kid with a new toy.
:D

I'm glad it got there safely. The guys at the UPS store get carried away sometimes wrapping my stuff.

Hope you enjoy the saw, I miss it on my shelf already. It is a nice looking and running saw.

For anybody out there, the 028 is still available and that's really nice too. Even has the newer Stihl side adjust, most 028's are front adjust.

Take care Brian and enjoy the saw.
