The Stihl 500i is one of my favorite saws and I use mine a lot and highly recommend them. A friend has two bone stock saws and right out of the box they have been driving him crazy because they keep shutting off when at full throttle. It is though the kill switch is accidentally activated, but it isn't. They start right up, but then shut off again as soon as they get to full throttle. The saws as have serial numbers that a re a bit apart, but BOTH have thew same issue and it is becoming dangerous because they are cutting out at the worst possible times. The saws have been back to the dealer multiple times for computer check, and there are supposedly no problems. The distributor has become involved, but still no resolution. It is not fuel starvation, it is the spark instantly quitting.
