Getting the saw on wendsday with a 24" pro match bar and a 3/8 carlton full chisel chain...any suggestions for the saw before i run it?

hehe thats what i figured...chaps should be here wendsday also..so hopefully this weekend i can see how she cuts...They are sending me .058 chain? is that ok? The bar is .058 also to but i see mostly everyone runs .050

It all works the same. Some folks do everything .050, some .058. A lot depends on what is popular in your geographic area, with Husqvarana-heavy areas tending to favor .058 and Stihl-heavy areas preferring .050.

Unless you're spinning your own loops from bulk chain and want to have everything the same, it makes no real difference if your 24" bar is one gauge and your 20" bar is another and so on.

I've successfully completely avoided .058 and I am very glad. But I buy chain by the reel and have many dozens of loops of maybe 6 lengths going all the time. It's bad enough having .050 and .063 to deal with, which is unavoidable with longer bars.

Around here .050 is always easy to come by.

I have around 18 bars and to have any of them take a different chain would be a real pain.

I run .058 on my 120...when I buy a 7900 later this year I'm going to get .058 just to keep it the same

.050

I cut no where NEAR as much wood as guys like B-Turner, but I have diligently and (for what has turned into too much $) Worked to get all my bars and chains to .050. This has helped to clear up some of the madness when I'm trying to grab X chain for Y bar for Z saw....
