That was a lot of grinding! I feel your pain! LOL

Ya! Got a headache now! LOL. Definitely lots of room for improvement on this kit. MCW says they run good with no mods, so I'm hoping for much more.

There wasn't much room to widen the ex, as you can see from my marks, I think .065 on one side and .095 on the other, the intake had a bit over .100 on both sides.

A little is better than none. . . Should be a good running work saw.

A bit more work done. Got the ex port where I wanted it. I was shooting for 100atdc, but ended up at 99.5 so I just left it there. Transfers are at 130atdc, so that gives 30.5° of blowdown, maybe that's too much? I don't know, but I'm going to try it like that and see. Got a chamfer on the ports, didn't do much more clean up on the ports, leaving them as is for now, got to get it done and off the bench so I can finish up the 288xp. A few pics.

Now I just need the black front top cover. Then it'll look better.

Took the muffler apart, then cut the cage off, leaving just the metal flange, and welded back on the little parts that sit around the bolt tubes so it sat back in there ok. Now just have to add one more port then good to go.

Looking good Will. I'm even checking this thread on my phone while sitting on a hill in the middle of nowhere just so I can get reception :)

P.S. Tip for the HD filter kit is to leave the felt pre filter off. It is quite simply a chip magnet.

Nice!

thanks for the tip!

Now what if it were a chic magnet?

Looks good, nice and even side to side, not easy to work up in there.

Have you looked at matching the lower transfers to the case, often there is quite a missmatch going on in that area.

Thanks Brian. Yes I did do a match to the case. We'll see how it goes. I'm going out now to finish the muffler. Got to bore out some steel pipe on the lathe then weld in a outlet.

Muffler mod done, I decided to just make a stock style deflector.

Saw is back together and running. I had to pull a Brad and do it under the lights. No cookies though. Vid uploading now.

Well if it was a chick magnet I'd have left all 3 on and be in all sorts of trouble! Trust me mate, that felt pre filter is a waste of space and not once have I thought it is a good idea.

Now back to that video :D
