Hi

Going to sharpen a fresh loop that was :censored: by nail in a tree. I was wondering what way you sharpen it do you go for their recommended 25 degrees using the roller guide or 30 degrees using a stihl file mate. Any difference in performance between the two angels? does it matter what angle i file them too as long as there all the same

Thanks

Greater top plate angle normally gives you faster cutting, but slightly reduced stay sharp ability. It's your call from there based on what you're cutting. You could try it and see what you think, and go from there. It's not very hard to switch back, a couple filings and you're back to the original top plate angle.

I got my own sleazy ways to make it cut fast, but does not this chain have the mark on the tooth like the 73JG chain? The mark that shows you the angle?, sharper angle, more hook, lower rakers cuts faster but hit another nail and you will be filing for a long time, ya gots ta compromise.

If you want 30 degrees, you can still use the rollergauge - just adjust the angle using a file handle with a 30 degree indicator or use "Kentucky windage".:chainsaw:
