Hey guy´s! give me your thoughts on this! i´m buying a big saw for milling and sometimes cutting lumber stack´s at a sawmill(around 3.7x3.7 foot),what´s the difference? 090 is old and heavy and 880 is new and heavy! the 880 should work better, and maybe have more chainspeed, but on the other hand i have heard the 090 is "bulletproof"and have more torque!!? much more? is it much trouble with an "old" 090? spareparts ect?for ex, can i get a new cylinder and piston for it,from let´s say germany? and other new parts? is the 090 worth the nostalgica?. my lokal dealer gave me a good deal on a 880! 1315usd! i will probably have to pay the same or more for a good used 090!! they sure is expensive! are they worth the money? I´m 100% sure that i will end up with both in a near future!!:D , i want the opinion from you guy´s who have used them both!! but all input´s are wellcome! Thank´s!

It would depend on how much you were going to use it. Side by side the 090 is alot heavier than the 880. Parts are getting tough to find on the old saws (here). Dont get me wrong though, 090's are cool saws with tons of power. Heck, I dont know, BUY THEM BOTH, you could go broke but you couldnt go wrong.

Second hand 090s and 084s can be had for about the same price here ~AU$800. Maybe a grand for a 088/880. 880 RRP is AU$2895 from memory.

I'd go for the newer saw for parts availability. I figure $600 is what I'd spend on a 090, but I've not managed to land on at that price.

New Chinese 070 clones might be an option. I've seen them here but only bundled up in odd deals like "five different size saws for $1500". I didn't want the four other saws.... If I could get an 070 clone for AU$300, I'd buy it in a heartbeat.

If we could get a member in Mexico, we could still get brand new 070's, 076's and MS380's. Just need to get a member from Mexico and get them shipped up. And yes, they can ship them here, a dealer can't, but just like on ebay, person to person you can ship them here.

I know I'd be very willing to buy stuff through that sort of an arrangement.

What are you willing to spend on those saws ? Yes they can be shipped up here legally but the cost is not at any discount. If someone is serious about getting them then I will pursue it further.

If customs decides to get pissy (or just picky) they can be held at the border for not having EPA or CARB emissons certification. Driving from Oregon to CA will get your saws seized if you aren't careful!
