I have been trying to put a 8 tooth Rim drive sprocket on my Stihl 026 which currently has a 7 tooth. I purchased the small ID 3/4" but it seems my splines are even smaller than 3/4" Do I need to change the drive / clutch cover to go to a larger spine? I was told by a arborist friend I could just buy the sprocket and swap it out but it doesn't seem to be working for me.

That is what I thought I had but the id is too large - the part number on the drive is 1121-160-2900. I think it may be the mini spile if there is such a thing. I cannot find this part number though anywhere online.
Is there a way to go to a larger RIM to use the Oregon small Rim Sprockets? I have two of those.

the normal Stihl 026 clutch drum takes a mini size sprocket, the Oregon and GB aftermarket takes the larger "Small" spline and has a larger selection of sprockets.

The part number I gave you for the rim is correct... The drum number is not a valid ordering number as the drum is only sold as a kit including the rim washer and clip.

You cannot use the larger internal size sprockets on the Stihl 026 drum.
