This would be going on a 357xp, I know you all guessed it... I've been casing one of these damn things for too long now.

Anyways, they come setup from the factory with a 9pin sprocket, is this a large sprocket in the .325 world? While Im okay at figuring out the sprockets on my dirt bike, Im new to this concept on chainsaws:jester:

If I get all crazy like, and run a 24" bar on occasion (Only on occasion) would this be an inefficient setup, since I'd be losing torque for chainspeed?

Im slowly beginning to put the .325 idea down and slowly back away...

(I might be warming up to an MS361 too.... oh noes)

Since a 357XP is more or less on a par with a 361, I suspect that you will find that it cuts better with 3/8" 7-pin than with .325" 9-pin.

Running .325" makes some sense on low- to mid-powered saws in the 45-55cc range. I think it is a good setup on my muffler-modded 026Pro/16" setup, but I would not want to run it on a larger, high-performance saw like the 357XP.

I really don't believe that a 357xp left the factory that way - .325x9 is pretty much the same diameter as the 3/8x8 - I believe both are a bit large for a 357xp.......:hmm3grin2orange: :hmm3grin2orange:

.....but both are recommended for my Euro MS361, but that is a torquier saw - still wouldn't even consider it with a longer than 16" bar ...... ;)

I run a 16" on my 361. Started out with a 9 tooth in .325...the saw much prefers 3/8 chain. Using a 7 tooth right now, and dont think Im going to try an 8.
