Well the original cause was Ips beetle. I believe, they had already flown so I wasn't able to identify it for sure. The majority of the time that is what kills our pine. They were brought in because of a bunch of snap-out and blow down on some nearby ground. The bark is like that because of the piliated woodpeckers, then they dried out this summer and started to slip the bark.
Those tree's are in a subdivision and I'm sure they will move through and take it all eventually.
