Picked this Homelite super 902 up on Thursday, just finished cleaning up it now. Never had to work on such a dirty caked on, baked on mess, not even the high pressure washer could take it all off. Worth the effort though, the saw puts out 155-160 on the compression gauge, and runs like a charm after a carb gasket kit and a new fuel line. Pretty heavy saw, tips the scales at 20 lbs with a 16" bar and chain and a bit of gas and oil.
Bit of a surprise to see the original Homelite hard nose bar on it, got a shock when I went to dress it. Incredibly hard steel! My files would barely touch the rails, and would skip right off the nose insert. Had to use the angle grinder to level it and used the file to polish the rails.
Although I need another saw like a hole in the head, I always wanted a big Homelite, and at 78 cents a CC it was hard to pass up. Some pictures after the clean-up, and a couple of reasons for it's weight, the massive flywheel and clutch. Notice the odd "E" shape coil lamination instead on the normal "C". Now If I can find a reasonably priced air filter for it.
