I do use them. I think it is one of the best applications for Hubert's device.
As for a steel core, even a 1/2" is still very hard and I dont know if the cam would bite. Doubtfull

I have not used it on a steel core lanyard, but I echo Tom and Frans' sentiments--the A.R.T. lanyard (called 'The Positioner') is the best device available for adjusting your lanyard.
I have two work saddles so I keep the ART on the left and the right adjuster is a distel made from NE Econo Braid tied directly to the d-ring. The lanyard goes through the d so it acts like a slack tender.
Tom- I guess that my wife would say that I wasn't all there to start with so that a full recovery would be impossible to attain . Thanks for asking though. I haven't been up in any trees since but that's only because I was canoeing with my Scouts up in the BWCA for the last two weeks(just what I needed-a relaxing workout ) but expect to get back in the full swing of things this week. We've had over seven inches of rain locally since Friday so we are still trying to get all the ground clutter cleaned up. By the way we stayed at the Boy Scout Commissioner's (John The Handyman) house in Chippewa Falls(WI) during our trip and he gave me a business card for Harvey Kouts who is an ISA Arborist in the area. Anybody out there know him? Break times over with gotta get back to the storm cleanup.
