Hello Everybody! I'm new to A.S, although I've been observing since Mid-December. I'll give you a quick run-down about myself; back in December I decided that I needed a chainsaw due to the storm that had blown through WA. I knew whatever I ended up with, I wanted it to be something of quality. I'm firm believer in the old adage; buy quality once...pay for poor quality time and again. At any rate, my Internet search led to A.S, for which I'm grateful! The knowledge that I've gained in following this forum has been immense. I find myself trying to take a peak at it whenever I can...just to see what the latest post is. The expertise and varied opinions that are found on this site are phenomenal.
From the beginning I was inclined to go with Stihl or Husqvarna just because I knew that these two manufacturers were top in the business. It wasn't until I began reading this forum that I realized that there were such brand loyalists out there! I soaked-up as much of the advice as I could and headed off to the mom and pop shops. I ended up going with a Stihl, although it is undoubtedly clear that Husky makes an excellent product. I just liked the way the Stihl's felt and ran.
My initial saw purchase was an Stihl MS250 C-BE. It was my intent to buy a saw, take care of it well, and live out my days with my one one good saw. I've been very happy with the 250, it does exactly what I needed my saw to do...and does it well. However, I noticed something starting to happen within me...through A.S I started to be able to quote makes, models, and statistics from chainsaw manufacturers that I had never heard of before December! I couldn't figure out what was happening to me? Something started telling me that I needed a "PRO" saw, but why? My 250 was running like a champ! I had completed the work that I bought it for, what use could I have for a pro-saw...I'm just a firewood guy! Nonetheless, A.S drew me back night after night and I began dreaming of numbers: 361, 5100, 353, 460, 7900, ect...ect..I tried to snap out of it, but A.S wouldn't let me go. Before I knew it I found myself the owner of an MS361 C-B, less than two weeks after my MS250 purchase. The fever has subsided...a little...but the dreams are starting again.
I need help fellas...what's your advice (do I dare ask)? All joking aside, I appreciate the advice and expertise that you all have collectively provided. I'm happy to have finally joined the forum and look forward to getting to know you all better in the future! :rockn:
