Aluminum cracks
This is the third year Ive had mine Alpine, I can appreciate why they are made with aluminum to keep the weight down but aluminum does not handle stress and vibration. I have the Husqvarna 3120 and it has fallen off in my hand ...twice. I finally rebuilt the mounting bracket out of 3/8 steel and its maybe 1/2 pound heavier? but have had no problems since.
I worry the life span of these might be 5 years, if the leg starts cracking. I'm sure the manufacturer is going to say poor maintenance or bolts to tight or to loose or whatever. But thats not the case. I'm very meticulous with my maintenance .
With that said, these are great. I can do the average stump in 7 minutes be loaded up and gone before others are unloaded. I do lots over 30 inch and some over 40 inch. There is a knack to running one I'd say you have to do over 20 stumps before it starts to get easy. You fight against it up until then.
