A Wedge Conundrum

Was in buying a couple wedges and a new flippy cap yesterday. The store had blue Double Taper and the standard yellow and red Double taper. Blue was a couple bucks more. Whats the difference between em? I'm assuming one is softer and one is harder or some other special property. I went with the old standard since they were cheaper.

Blue was more expensive? Weird. Those ones are usually cheaper. They all seem to take a beating the same, except for the Red Heads and the Hard Heads.

I think the blue one is a little shorter, and has a much narrower tip with a more subtle second taper. I like it for when one sits back you can usually get it started where some other wedge would just scoff at you.

Never seen the blue ones back here. I like the redheads, wedges that is. First wife was a redhead, I leave that kind ALONE!

lol, same here..........i use the k&h triple tapers mostly.

Yes Medoo, I meant K&H. I think they drive very well and don't seem to break near as bad as some of the cheaper ones. I hate the ones that shatter when it's cold.

Mike, k&h are red heads.........white with a red thick end. im pretty sure stihl wedges are really k&h with that are orange............orange plastic costs more......

Someone told me to stay away from redheads... spend the night but don't move in, it took me 3 trys to figure out why... The wedges are great though

The only blue wedges I have seen are Madsen's brand. They are made by Pillar Plastics, the same people the make Double Taper. Madsen's blue and orange wedges are the same plastic as far as I know, just different colors. slowp gave me a pink wedge from Madsen's but the last time I checked that color was discontinued.

I have not found the box of reject wedges that used to be in the sale aisle for some time. Wedge makers must have more quality control now?

And I guess they have been scooping them up for the past 4 or so years?? Boy, maybe they should read the thread about making wooden wedges! Share the rejects oh faller gods! Now, Madsen's had a table of socks and apparently I do not have to compete with many Medium feet. But no box 'o wedges.
