I'm a semi-retired arborist (have friends who hire additional climber on occasion for large contracts). Another retired tree man has offered me two saws: a 2100XP (36" bar), and a 268XP (24" bar). The 2100XP has fewer hours; he tells me the saws have been sitting for about 8 years in an unheated shed (tanks still full of rank-smelling fuel). The 268 has seen hard use; the larger saw looks like maybe a few months use at most.
1. What would be a reasonable price range to offer him for the two saws, not running?
2. Anyone have the heated handle inserts and wiring and magneto-coil for the 26xXP series (266XP or 262XP)?

Welcome to AS! I don't know what those saws sell for, but I suggest doing an ended auction search on eBay (you have to be registered). Keep in mind eBayware saw prices have been crazy high over the last few months. Is the 268XP in good enough shape to possibly do a rebuild, and get a few more years out of it?

Oh, yes, I sometimes have a gift for pointing out the obvious. Aw ra best!

100-200 for the 2100
268xp 50-125
would be my range not unning and all depends on if they are ragged or not

The 2100 is worthless give him $150 put it in a box and send it my way. I'll pay shipping just to be fair.

I thought the Husky 2100s were worth more than that; I probably spend too much time on eBayware.

This will probably send this thread to hk, but I have bought two lately for less than two with shipping.

Prices

The 2100's, in good running condition, have been selling for $300+ on ebay. The 268's have sold for as high as $250-$300 themselves. Do to the fact these are actually in unknown condition I would offer $250-$300 for the entire package.

Just my opinion

Thanks for the suggestions...

Mr: I DO have a couple worthless old saws I could send you just for the shipping ;) . . .

Chris J: Yes, eBay seems to drive prices up; and thanks for the warm welcome to AS . . .

Superman_36 and Roanoker-494: I agree with your ranges, for non-running saws . . .

Being fair-minded, I will see if he is willing to let me have at 'em for an hour to see what kind of compression they have, and if I can get them running with fresh fuel and plugs. If the 2100XP is as new and unused as he claims, it should be worth easily $300.00 or more. The 268XP looks as 'utilized' as my trusty 266XP, which means "if it wasn't still orange in color one might not know what kind of saw it is". Gotta love a Husky that has seen years of all-around use and keeps on screaming. The 266XP has been my most-used, non-climbing saw, and survived more than it's fair share of abuse... (I think the English translation for 'Husqvarna' is 'Cat with nine lives')
Couple other questions:
1. Is there a "gallery" on AS where you show off pics of favorite saws?
2. Who is the best authority on Homelite saws? I know of three well-used beasts, sitting in a box.
