I wondering if anyone my have any thoughts in which truck may be a better buy? I am looking at either a 2004 F-650 with a cat turbo diesel or a 2002 International 4700 crew cab with a T444E engine. I cant find much information on the reliability of the cat turbo diesels, I know the 444 is basically the 7.3 powerstroke, which I understand to be quite reliable. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

The DT444E is a horrible engine and I tell people to stay away. I've heard too many horror stories on this engine. The DT466 is a lot better. My opinion would be to go with the Cat engine.

Just my opinion.

The DT466 is a much better engine but I didn't know the 444 was that bad, just very under powered for the medium duty truck segment. The Cat's have great support but parts can be costly.

i have never used the 444 (7.3 powerstroke) in the medium duty world, but in the light duty world it's been great we have 5 in the family. there are plenty of ways to up the power without reducing reliability.

I appreciate your help and insight! I think I have decided to go with the 444, I know they are underpowered, but not too many hills in Oklahoma, and the price is pretty great!
