I'm about to get me a 385XPG the coming week-end and as I live in Sweden I'll get it with the low, flat nylon air-filter. I looked in the spare parts papers and there's an other filter, with a filter-cap à la 395. Now, has anyone ever compared the two as to see if there is a difference in power output or any other advantages?
Also, it'll come with a 28" full comp chain, should I get a skip sequence chain? I'll be bucking a monster oak with it. That's white oak by the way...

Full comp will cut faster and smoother in hardwoods. Full skip is best on bars over 28 inches and/or softwoods. It aids in chip clearance. I run semi skip on bars from 20-25, skip from 28 on up, and cut predominatley softwoods. I should run full comp on short bars, but I'm impatient as full comp takes more filing time.

I don't have a 385, so can't answer the filter question, but usually, the larger the better with filters.
