That really helps and opens my eyes. I didn't no there were other mills. How does the others attach.

Double clamp mills are easy to make and can be made very strong but also have a number of disadvantages
- the clamps can take up significant milling width that can bee needed to get around protrusions etc on a log
- if the clamps are not tightened correctly they can result in a toasted chain, if the bolts on a drilled bar mill come loose the mill just bogs down in the cut.
- most significnatly the saw has to be removed from the mill to change the chain.

I started out using double clamp mill designs but now all my mills have either drilled bars or mount to the bar bolts and use nose clamps designs that enable the chain to be removed from the saw without removing the saw from the mill. Once operators use drilled bar mills they are unlikely to go back to bar clamps.

Wow that is cheep and looks good . It would be pricey to get it all the way over to western Canada eh.I run a 36 bar. here that would be more like 350-450.

the panthermill 2 will usually run about $15-45 in additional shipping to canada depending on where you are exactly, the pro carraige systems usually run an additional $30-60 for the carraige only option, which is still cheaper then just about anyone else's double clamp design.

I live in B.C. vancouver island.

hey do get busy around here from time to time...lol, but according to the shipping calculator your looking at about $199 which does include shipping to you for the 36" panthermill 2, still can't go wrong at that price.

Thats mill and shipping. we will be talking:wink2:

Hey Fir
Not trying to talk you out of a Panther mill but you might want to look in Craigslist for a chainsaw mill near you. I just looked and there are a few on the island. (and a really nice score of a Husky 3120 and a Granberg mill for $$650 on the mainland)
