Almost got robbed!!!

Some gutless snake almost robbed me when i was in Pisgah National Forest with my wife and babies

We were down at the river playing in the water throwing rocks and all that fun stuff. I heard a truck pull up. All of the sudden a snake came out from under an uprooted hemlock
My daughter started screaming. I asked my wife to peek at the truck just before that. Well then this very rough looking character walks close enough to see us getting ready to go. It was getting late and with the snake and the truck up there idling and the ex con eyeballing i decided its time to go. I walk up there with my 2 year old son he's holding his shoes and his brothers shoes. We get closer and i see the truck is parked a foot away from my van. I see the man looking at me very uneasy. He backs away then the truck suddely starts. Windshield is blacked out all the windows are blacked out. He slips into the passenger seat. They back out very slowly. Meanwhile i am 8'away staring at the truck holding my babies hand. Then they haul ass before i can see the plates. I walk up to my backseat door and find this i am freaking pist and relieved at the same time when i look in the back of the van and my ported cs2172 , ported 350 , and 562xp are right where i left them.

There is no cell service up there. 20 mins later i get back to civilization and call my BIL the police officer. They are looking for the truck now. These people live in the woods i guarantee it. They do this to people all day. Thank the Lord Jesus Christ that snake came out from under that old dead hemlock tree.

I would give the shirt off my vack if someone was in need of help but when people steal they should be shot and pissed on. i have had stuff stollen and it sucks.

One summer afternoon, my family and I were out on the front porch enjoying the quite cool breeze, when all of a sudden, we hear this man's screaming, "God Help Me ! GOOOOD Help ME ! GOd Help Me !
The sound was coming from my neighbor's house around the curve and up the hill a ways. My 16 yr old son took off running up the hill in high gear, all the while this guy is yelling loud: God Help Me !
After a few minutes, my son doesn't come back , so I start up there, and my son is walking back down the hill.
My neighbors were gone, but his daughter, and her boyfriend came to the house to get something, and saw this man coming out of the house with his arms full of jewelry and other items. The guy sees them coming up the driveway, and drops everything , and runs into the woods, but the boyfriend tackles him, and was beating the man to a pulp while the neighbors daughter was calling the county sheriff. When the deputies arrived that guy could barely move. He had a criminal record from Arkansas. The deputies followed a trail of items across the road to a vacant house that was broken into. Inside they found the guys' accomplice hiding in a closet.

This guy saw me playing with my three babies. He looked me in the eye very nervously when i was knee deep in ice cold water. He was the lookout i suppose. I will keep you all posted if the cops get anything on them. What stuck out the most about the flat black dodge 94 to 96 was the red bungee holding the plastic together on the front bumper. I am going to have to buy a pistol to play with my kids on federal land.

Sorry to here about your situation. I find it odd they tried to pop the lock instead of just busting the window to get to the saws. Hope they catch them.

I think arming yourself might be a real good idea. Especially, if you got critters like that running around those hills. You're in a way too vulnerable position with your wife and children in tow. That could've went real bad, real fast. It might not be such a bad idea to get your wife involved as well. I know some girls that can flat out shoot!

Most thefts are done out of convenience or are targeted hits ...inside jobs.

Did their van pull up next to your car specifically?

Who else in the park would have noticed your saws in the back? Ie...did the guy at the front gate see the saws and make a call?

What I hate is the feeling of....I think it's embarrassment....that you'd HAVE to arm yourself to take a dip in a national park.

We had a thief in our house. ..while we were sleeping 1.30am. 2008. I live in a neighborhood that nothing ever happens in. I hate the fact that I have to lock my doors now....I think by doing that I'm insulting the neighborhood....but ya gotta do what ya gotta do.

In my area the dam theives got more rites then the honest person. If we layed a hand on them we would be the ones charged and in jail.

My neighbor had his less then a week old car vandalized few weeks back and he asked what he could do if he ha of caught them. The cop told him appsolutly nothing or he would be charged. Then the cop told him if he spooked him and he took off running and tripped and fell on his property he could sew the home owner. What total B.S.

I know if i caught someone i would beat em and just drag them on the street and go back in like nothin happened.

Who knows. I didnt sleep more 3.5 hours lasr night.

With my toddler there standing next to makes me , makes me realize just how extremly vulnarabl and naked i was. I love my kids more than my own life. I walked up to the truck with a very aggresive expresion. On the way up from the river every muscle in my body was completely filled with blood. I felt almost super human strength and awareness. I had know idea they just tryed to rob me at these points. They could of shot me very easily.

I am standing here in woodlot in complete disbelief and anguish.

I dated a gal in Cullowhee. Never had an issue with shady people while out hiking in that area. That was a few years ago and maybe the poor economy is affecting things. Glad you and your family are okay.

Just curious, why did you have so many saws in your vehicle?

Sad that our country has gotten to this point that a guy don't even feel like he can protect himself or his family. There's not stiff enough consequence for people to worry about being caught stealing other people ****! When thieves start losing hands or arms or hanged in public then they might stop and think bout what in'a hell their doing. For a thief to have more right on my land than I do is complete horsechit too, far as I'm concerned when they crossed the fence or sidewalk or whatever they've already gambled er all. No sympathy for a thievin bass-turd, tie an up and lay em neked on a fire ant hill or somethin real neighborly like that
