My 088 came from upper Washington State. It was used regularly there. My concern is that it needs to be rejetted for the lower altitude of South Carolina. I believe it would run too lean at the lower altitude.

Does it have the fixed jets or adjustable? Adjustable, you can just set them up properly. Fixed, you need to buy the proper size jet.
How does it run now?

The saw starts good, sounds strong, and to me cuts a little on the weak side. I would think that with a 25" bar and .404 chain it should really rip.

I don't know if my saw has fixed or adjustable jets. I'm trying to locate a shop manual.

Just look at the side of the carb. If there are 3 screws (hi, low, and idle set) then it just needs to be adjusted. If you don't have hi and low set screws, or if you only have a low set screw, then the main jet is fixed.
