Last week I complained about my 026 not running right and being forced to use my MS200 instead. (only cutting small stuff anyway)
I took a little time for maintainence Sunday and was cleaning the 026 and blowing out all the accumulated saw dust and crud and guess what.
No stinkin' fuel in the tank. Filled it up and it almost ran. Of course I had tinkered with the LS screw. After running it in 1/2 turn the old gal was running just like she should. Moral of the story is CHECK THE SIMPLE STUFF FIRST!!!(Keep It Simple Stupid!)

My son was riding his little Suzuki Quadmaster 50 Saturday when all the sudden it stopped running..............think I should check the fuel!!! :hmm3grin2orange:

Truth be told it couldn't have ran out of gas at a better time. I had to snow blow the lawn just so he could ride it, and it was about 10 degrees out too. I was just about ready to tell him it was time to go in the house, you know how that go's..................but if it stops all by itself! :biggrinbounce2: :D :cheers:
 
At the very least fiddle with all adjusting screws before checking the obvious. Make job interesting!

What's even harder, is tuning the saw with the choke closed and wondering why it runs so badly.

Every now and then I forget which screw is high and which is low.

Started an 045 once without a clutch drum--took me a month to find all the shoes.

I will say that I've never put a chain on backwards.

Dont forget about checking for spark for about 5 mins and then realize it is in the off position still.
 
I hate pulling the crap out of a saw in front of the customer, telling them it's flooded, and have them say "but I took all the gas out before i put it in the car..." grrrr...:help: :help:

My saws do this right in the middle of decking a 30 inch oak tree. They put reserve tanks on motor bikes. How about chainsaws.:hmm3grin2orange:
 
Out of gas...

Friend of mine from Bulgaria was stationed in Algeria with the Russian Army for bad behavior before 'the wall' came down. Long story short, he was called out to resolve a problem with a brand new truck that some Algerian Army guy was driving into the city from the port that it came in on. Anyway, he says that there were 4 guys all over the truck, trying to figure out what was wrong with it. It was brand spanking new after all, and supposed to run, right? It just wold not start... so he asked the obvious question... "Did you put gas in it???" Well, everyone looked at him funny. "Gas? It needs gas?" "Yah.... EVEN WHEN THEY ARE NEW THEY NEED GAS!" :laugh:

Another friend of mine works for a Toyota dealer in California. He gets to check out the cars after the leases expire and are returned for resale. He says that about 1/3 of them have the original oil filters still on them. A big reason that a lot of car companies include "Free" service with leases now.

I say Gas guage!



Right next to the oil pressure guage. Above the chain sharp indicator and the button for the lazer guide.....

Been there, done that! :laugh:
 
Things I have done IN PUBLIC.

No go on a tiller. Haul to town. Yep, no gas.

Two years ago: Splitter wouldn't start. Bad plug so off totown for a new on, install, no start so hook it up and drag it to twon. As I was unhooking in his lot with them looking on I looked down and saw the plug wire laying alongside the plug.

Of course there was my buddy back in the 60s "could you help, I tuned my Pu and it won't fire" What did you do? "well, I put in a new distributor, plugs, etc'. It fires when #1 comes up" WHICH TIME?? Yep, 180 out.

That's why transparant fuel tanks makes sense - to avoid that, I mean.....:yoyo: :yoyo: :blob5:
