359 was the first new saw I bought man I was soo disappointed that is until I found this site. So first I nodded the muffler and re tuned the carb then after some more research I decided to do some port work. Most of the saws I have had apart the base gasket is generally .16 thick I went a little farther with my saw than some of the others I did but drop out the base gasket and raise the exhaust about .16 and it will be a big difference from stock specially with the muffler mod and a good tune. Another neat note is the 066 wrist pin is the same size as the 359 and weighs less so less strain on the bottom end at higher rpm.

Another clean muffler mod is to drill through the mounting bracket and muffler body and sandwich a screen between it and the muffler. Best of all the only cost is the screen and no weld/brazing

I get it. The 372 clamp goes over everything after the tabs are removed. Thanks. And if I can get the deflector for $8 I can be happy drilling and screwing. I appreciate your help.

You'll want to pressure test it after replacing the clamp. It should work, but I've seen few not seal with this method and instead had to go with the oem partition with metal clamp.

Here is how I got around the cat. I plugged the original exh exit to prevent top cover burn.

I liked the suggestions that I use a Husqv deflector on the clutch side. But even the least expensive ones are pricy. And then the shipping jacks it up even more if you are only getting one or two. So I folded one up like this:

It is about 25 wide and 14 high at the center.

My 359 is non cat, non-E, so as I retune the high needle, am I correct in thinking I do not need to worry about a rev limiter?
