any reccomended chippers to get?, i know all of the main brands but i need reviews by people who used them, im starting my own landscaping company, and we need a chipper, so, any recomended models would be crease

Ive said it b4 and ill say it again. Over and over. Bandit 250xp. Not too heavy, agressive, and tough. Stay away from vermeer 1250/1230. Try running a 1250 after you try a bandit and you'll know why. If you get the bandit, a lift assist cylinder for the feed wheels is a must.

What's so bad about the 1250 , I'm looking to buy one next week , 11K only 750 hours , 2001 model?

How is the bandit better?

The "shelf" behind the feed wheels. At least the bandit wont take larger stuff than it can eat and then twist it and bind up. Also the bandit is balanced better. Any one whos ever driven down the road behind a 1250 will tell you. Every decent bump in the road, or train crossing, and the driver side jumps a foot in the air. All the weight is under the disk, so you have to flip your tires every few hundred miles, or the passenger side gets bald real quick. And the little links on the valve bank are weak as ****. If you buy one, be sure to always have a few extra in the tool box. And last but not least, no chipper chute clogges like a 1250.

I'm looking at a 1999 Bandit 1890 2400 hours for 12500? Good deal?

I am more than pleased with my Bandit 65xl. Only does 6" max. (more like 4"), but it is a very efficient machine and is small and light.

All depends on what you are using your chipper for.

I found a 2001 bc1230 for 11k with 750 hours , I might get it , or a 1999 Bandit 1890 with 2500 hours for 12500

The 1890 is a bad ass but it weighs over 11000 pounds, so around me you gotta have a class a cdl to pull it. A little bit of over kill , unless your using a crane on a big willow, in that case, it'll all be chips , real quick!

Glen, if you think its a good deal... get it. I have a Vermeer 1250 and its been great so far. I would buy another in a heart beat.

My BC 1000 had 1000 hrs when I bought it. I use it everyday. Put about 1500 hours on it. Had to replace a pulley which vermeer replaced for just the cost of parts. A couple other $50 parts and thats it. For a machine with over 2,000 hours I'd say thats pretty bulletproof. But ever model is different and machines get treated different. You have to take care of a vermeer. If you don't keep up on maintainence they will have problems. We grease the main bearings every morning. Bang out the air filter often. Change it once a year. Change the oil often. And most important keep the knifes SHARP!!! It will last...... Mike

i will admit i havent been around as long as most of you but the arb industry in nz is tiny so stuff gets around but what im speaking of i have seen, when i started out i would sub out my chipping work so ive seen and worked with alot of different gear.

the bc 1000s i have seen are under powered for a 12inch machine to start, they vibrate like mad, ive fixed 3 engine hoods now that have cracked due to vibration.

im no pro welder but ive seen so many welds crack on them its scary, and just rewelding doesnt work, there has to be metal added to hold them together, to get a light weight machine you have to sacrifice some thing.

if you have a rough operator (we all get them sometimes) they are easy to break, the fiber glass guards are begging to be smashed.

they do have there good points, the single feed wheel is great for nasty material and theres no silly gaps for stuff to fall through, they chip hedge trimmings really well and are light weight for a 12 inch machine but i wouldnt push 12 inch stuff into one to often. itll shake it self apart.

when i was originally looking for a big chipper a while ago i posted some thing on here and some one from red roo contacted me about them.
he sent me alot of info on them and the pricing details and i must say they are one VERY well built machine from what i could see. my issue was we went into a reccession and money got very tight and it still is so i ended up buying a bandit 65 to replace my 625 vermeer.

the pricing on them red roos was EXCELLENT, i reacon with the price of them you could import one into england easy as, he offerd to land one here in nz from australia for a lot less then the bandit dealer here could sell me a 250 with the same specs.
