Dealer has one. From looking at the Husky site either the 357 or 362 is the replacement for it. Which one? Like I said dealer has one so it's probably been sitting a while. What should I offer him? Maybe I can get a good deal on it. I like my 346 but have decided I want a big saw for cutting the big stuff. Will only be used for cutting large hardwood. Lot's of dead ash and red elm around here. How does it compare with the 372 or stihl 441 for that matter. Thanks again for the help.

The 365 is a good saw, have one that rides in my truck everyday. Similar to a 372 but not as much grunt. If I'm not mistaken it was replaced by the 362, just a different top end, a Husky guru can correct me if I'm off base here. Have not run a 441 yet, so cannot compare. It is a little more saw than my 13 year old 036 though, but I still prefer the handling of the Stihl(just me). I'd say go for it, especially if the dealer is looking to empty that shelf space. Plus you can interchange some parts from other Huskys.

The 362XP, 365, 365 Special, and 371XP/372XP are all the same chassis. The 362 used the small Husky bar mount, the rest used the large mount. None were replacements for the other, except for the upgrades from the 371 to the 372. They were all distinct models that used the same basic engine, with different cylinders and intakes. The 362 actually started disappearing sooner than the 365. All are being phased out due to EPA regulations for the 570/575 series of saws.

That is right!

The 362xp were "reintroduced" a while ago, I don't know for how long. This time it has the large bar mount.

Personally, I wouldn't want the weight of these saws, without the power of the 371/372xp........

All the models built on that chassis are good saws!
Nearly bulletproof reliability if you take care of them right.
Some of the most reliable saws Husky's made IMHO. Like SawTroll said, if I had my choice it'd be the 372xp for the most power for the package.
These saws are getting hard to come by at most dealers -
the 362xp is still readily available to me but the 365's and 372's are scarce...
If you get the 365 at a really good price, I don't think you'd be disappointed a bit.

The only 365 that we have ever had come back to the shop was run over by a boom truck! Other than that never had a complaint. So as long as you don't plan on running it over I doubt that you will have any trouble.

I forgot about the reintro with the large mount on the 362XP. That's the mount it should have had all along anyhow.

Okay guys what should I offer him for it? I think it would be enough power for me. If not I can always get a jug from a 372 and put on it. Found out today he is closing the store. Not because he has to because he wants to retire. Will miss the store. Excellant hardware store. Always had the oddball thing that nobody else would stock or know anything about.

Dealers around here where selling them for 10% under list and less, just to move them. Find list, or close, and offer around 20% less as a starting point?

365...let's see...seems like they used to go for about $589 list price? If he is retiring/going out of business, and he STILL has 365's, I would see if you could get one for $500-525...even $525 would be a good deal at that list price.

yeah, we got the 362xp back available again late in the fall with the big bar mount....funny that they all have 05 serial numbers though and are not in the price book . As for the 372xp i've posted this in several threads after hearing ppl say that it's coming back, I'm still not totally convinced because a few days ago i was told by husky that unless it is guaranteed that we will see them again they will not accept backorders for them. They told me it was still just a rumor and that we may see none of them, partly becuase of the epa and partly because the 575 is supposed to completely replace it. (we've had the 575 since about 6 months before the last time we could get a 372) Don't get you hopes up in the eastern part of the US (where we are at)cause if I remember right the 372 only lives here if enough other models are sold that exceed the EPA standard to balance out the 372 which doesn't meet the phase 2 requirements.

Okay I went to the store to try and buy me the 365. Turns out it's a 365 special, which is even better from searching here. When were they last made and is it worth more than the regular 365? Did they still have a list price of 589? Boss was gone so the haggling will have to wait until monday. Once again thanks for the help.

I love them run under a 24" bar and you'll love it
in most wood you'll barely notice you don't have a 372

Plus parts are abundant if something tears up you can find almost anyone with an old 365 or 72 stuck back
