Look up Bjarne Butler, he’s the real deal, he uses a 572 , 36” bar for big , Doug Fur , and Cedar , Hemlock and a 592 to ,
Bjarne cuts some big stuff with a 572, personally I dont see why anyone would need bigger. This guy is production falling often on steep ground so you have to decide a few things like weight to power and torque. I can cut all I will ever need with a 70cc saw but I would love a big husqvarna but I know realistically I couldn't use one at my age.

Yup , he’s cut some huge trees
 
I mostly agree, except that 36” western pine or fir is similar to cutting 24” eastern beech or maple. 36” hardwood requires at least a very stout 572
Very true. Even the toughest old growth Douglas Fir is very soft.
If I was cutting 36" midwest hard woods on a regular basis I would be looking at a 592 or 661.
