I wanted climbers to see this post, thats why its here and not on the chainsaw forum.

I`m looking for a new climbing saw. I currently use a Echo and I like the balance and longevity but the power is lacking. I find the Husky awkward plus I hate getting shocked when the spark plug cover falls off. I like the power of the Stihl but the weight and the price are a bit much. Is there hope for me or am I to darn picky?

You are more than welcome to try them when we hook up!

Thanks Rich, looking foward to it. Nice Saws! Wish I could afford all your toys :)

If you have an echo, and are looking to upgrade, don't get the redmax. If you're going to upgrade, do it right. The echo is serving you fine for now, so keep using it a little longer until you save a little more for the MS200T. You won't be dissatisfied.

Why bother upgrading just a tiny bit?

I have an Echo also and it will not die. It is an older CS 3000. I just rebuilt the carb and, good as new. I know the landscapers are having good luck with Redmax too.

I had a Echo and the carb went bad. Took it in but for repairs with no luck.
For trimming, thinning, limbing one hand to hold onto is what these saw were made for. Not necessairly a light saw but leaving the other hand empty is why these saws were born.

Get a Stihl MS200T. Spend the extra money, it will be well worth it. Echo engines are rated for 300 hour lifespan. This is from the head engineer at the Echo 2 cycle maintenance seminar I attended at the recent TCI. He said consumer saws, weedwackers etc. like Poulan, Ryobi, Craftsman had rated lifespans of as little as 50 hours. A Stihl pro saw will last you well over a 1000 hours. I would think I have at least that on my 020T (4 years old). I currently have 2 020Ts and 2 MS200Ts. Just bought a MS192T to try that one out.

I had an Echo and it fell out of the back of my truck. Went back to look for it and it was gone. It was nice while I had it though. Now I got another Husky. Can't afford the MS200 for what I do.

That rating is for Emission compliance, not operation life!

Maybe so, but the 2 Echos I tried out became hard starting, loss power and finally died. I bought them after my Stihl, which is still going strong.
