I like my 401. Decent power and light weight. Better power to weight than the Stihl. It also has Exposed case metal, tough to find these days in a small saw. Only gripe is that the clutch wants to slip before I feel it should..But it is not a real issue. I paid $225

Food for thought:

The 401 could be had with .325" chain instead of 3/8"lp, in which case it comes with an upgraded clutch...

Husky 339xp or Stihl MS200, but they will cost a bit more........;)

Probably well worth the differense, if you will use the saw regularly, and quite often.

From those in the poll, there is no doubt, the Dolmar - is it called 411 with .325 chain?

My 339xp came with the 95VP setup, probably the best option on a saw in that size, but probably not on the MS180 (too little power). The Dolmar probably would like it, but I don't really know for sure.

The HD clutch can and will work with either the 3/8"lp or the .325" sprockets on the Dolmar PS401

Hi all,
Thanks for the replys so far. I love my cub CS-5018 so far, but have no idea about the 3916. I have several local Stihl dealers, no Dolmar dealers though, although that is not a big issue with me. I will use the saw kind of randomly, off and on for limbing and small firewood jobs. Thanks everyone, keep the replies coming

Hi,

I have voted for the stihl as we have one on the farm, I in no way endorse this saw as its rubbish unless you are just cutting very small logs, i doesnt work well as a felling saw even on very small stuff, the oiler keeps packing up when used for felling work.
