Does anyone climb with a Vertex with a face shield attached and if so does it get in the way? I seem to have developed a nasty bit of skin cancer on my nose that will require some plastic surgery and I need some protection against getting swatted in the face.

I do, and yes its a pain in the ass. I don't like wearing safety glasses so I got the shield to try it out. It is a really nice thing to have if your pushing your way through dense brush. I'm in the habit of flipping it up when I strap the helmet on and forgetting about it until it starts rubbing on branches or my climbing line. If you need something to protect your nose it would prolly be worth it to at least try it out. If that doesn't work out your could always get a Rip Hamilton mask

yes, i climb & work on the ground sawing /chipping with a Vertex mesh faceshield, and safety (sun) glasses. very comfortable, flips up when i need to, and stays away from face when its down. Offers excellent coverage against flying debris, first line of defense against facial / eye injuries. I take it you will be working with bandages affixed to the nose after the surgery? lots of room for stuiff like that.

Thanks. I ordered one and I'll give it a try. I'm not sure about the bandages. I can't anything sticking with all the sweat and dirt. I just didn't want to get wacked and undo the repairs. More fun. Wear your sunscreen.
Regards,
Phil

I wear one, funny thing is even with the faceshield and safety glasses, s#!t still gets in my eyes! And a word of advice, don't spit with the shield down!:hmm3grin2orange:

Yup, vertex vent with the Stihl mesh faceshield, the one that has the orange fabric over the top to stop the chips getting in from the top.
Good luck with the skin cancer - healing prayers coming your way.
