I started using the 8mm beeline just a few weeks ago, switching over from icetail. I cant really comment yet, as I went from a shagged out icetail cord, to a new, smooth beeline. The only thing I've noticed so far is that the beeline on my poison ivy, using a distel is that occasionally the bottom coil of the hitch will get pulled in and jammed between the rope and the side plate of the hitch climber pulley. Other than having to work that out, which is probably just an issue of having just swapped prussik cord and climbing hitches, I think its great.
I've used both Bee-line and Ice Tail. I prefer the Bee-line for it's feel over the Ice-Tail. And like Jeff said the Ice-Tail is very shaggy and worn looking after a short period of use. The Bee-Line still looks and feels like new after many uses.
do any of you feel 8mm beeline is not grippy enough for arbormaster rope? or maybe it's just becuase my rope is brand new and still needs to be worn in. should i natural crotch for awhile to wear in my new arbormaster?
Vox I have only used beeline so I cannot make a comparison but I was told that icetail is by design a "grippier" rope and fraying would be faster by default. Conversely beeline lasts longer but grips less so an extra wrap is common when used on the same climbing line.
After a few discussions with climbers who have used both prussik cords I stuck with beeline. A wash once in a while helps to reduce the gunk build up which makes it slicker but don't make my mistake and use too much soap, talk about a slippery ride!!!
