Is anyone going to the ITCC in Montreal? I am going and would like to meet as many of you as I can. Is there any place we can meet. Some kind of drop in or bar we can have a get together at?

I'm heading to Montreal.

Maybe Darin could host a hospitality tent for AS folks at the ITCC field day, nudge, nudge...

As the time gets closer we'll make firm arrangements. Is anyone interested in getting together pre or post conference for a climbing expedition? With enough lead time we could arrange to spend a night in some trees somewhere nearby.

Montreal activity

Peut-etre/maybe. Believe that is a long weekend in Ontario, but not in Quebec. There are a million bars in Montreal, if you need some suggestions I was born/lived there and still have a lot of friends and family that likely can make suggestions. The Casino, a bar there-in comes to mind as something centrally located and easy to get to. Or there are a million bars on Crescent St downtown. As far as tree climbing goes, perhaps north of the city in the Luarentians-Mont Tremblant is beautiful any season-I walked up easily the summer of 99, and I was 40 lbs heavier than I am now. I will have see if my new boss is up to going.

I plan on it, but, as usual it depends on how the buisness year unfolds. Too little or too much could both mean not going.

Also the vendor I work with at shows is not planning on going to that one, so nothing to defray my expences....or sell shirts.

Language Police in Quebec

You had better make sure that those shirts are only in french or language police will be after you. LOL. I can help you out with translation if you want-"Mange la m*erde PQ" comes to mind as one slogan, just do not be caught dead wearing it in "La belle province". The last three words really get "nationaliste" types, (separatist being too harsh a word for general consumption)angry, after all they are their own nation. Just about the only place in North America where you can not turn right on a red light either-the rest of Canada does it that way, so it must be bad.

count me in on the pre-post climb. Any Quebec climbers on line that can help? I do have some contacts in Quebec but I am unilingual. I really enjoyed myself the last time I went to the Quebec chapter climbers jamboree. With this much notice we sould be able to get something organized.:D

Too much work to get away right now. I got shoulder problems that allow me to work every other day. Kinda sucks with the cashflow situation.

PT is making it better, but oh so slowly:cry:

Regretably, I am out as well. Too much work here right now. Got to store those nuts for winter plus I am headed to Krautland in August and then to France in the beginning of Sept.

I hope to make it to TCI in November if I don't pizz off all my money before then.

Unfortunately, no beerfest for me. Munich is my base city too so it is a shame. For those who don't know, Munich is where Oktoberfest is.

It usually starts around sept 19th-20th and goes 2 weeks unil the 1st week of oct.

I have been 4 other years though. It is a blast nothing else like it in the world. Hopefully I will be living there next year. Still job hunting.

.

You obviously have never been to Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario's; Kitchener was known as Berlin until WW1 when they changed the name to something a little more politically correct for the times. Seriously a lot of fun, also Mennonite country, cousins of the Penna. Dutch. Won't cost you a trans-at airfare either!

Berlin, that is cool but what would Berlin have to do with Oktoberfest?

FYI - Oktoberfest is a Bavarian (Bayern) thing, not a whole Germany thing. There are many beer festivals imitating Oktoberfest (die wiezen), but they are all just imitations of Muenchen ;)

If you happen to be there, Schottenhammel is one of the best tents.

From Texas to Ontario probably cost near what a trans atlantic flight costs.

Now I've got my sights set on TCI since I can't make Montreal.

Having been to both, understand Berlin and Munich/Bayern are kilometers and attitudes apart. Kitchener was known as Berlin simply because of the huge German population that settled there, and obviously some of those from Bavaria decided to have an excuse for a huge ongoing party in October. Given the option I would rather go to Munich as well, but the second option is only about an hour away on the 401.
