Oregon 76LP chain repair links.

I need 2 repair links for some NOS Oregon 76LP chain. That was the standard size chain on the Echo CS-500EVL back in the day. Good looking cutters, looks like 3/8LP only bigger. Thanks...Bob

76 series chain has been obsolete since 1980. There are no longer any repair parts available. I have attached a list of dealers the work with old and obsolete chains you may be able to find someone that still has repair parts.

The part number for that preset is 23265. We don't have any but, they're listed in the current Oregon price list. If you can't find any small quantities out there, we can access a 25 pack and your cost would be $20.05.

Are you sure your chain is 72LP? I can't find that number in any of my older Oregon saw chain books.
There were 72,73,75 LP chisel chain. There was a 76 LG called Super guard. I have 13 feet left of that chain and some connectors. Are you needing two tie straps and two tie straps with rivets?

It is just marked 76 on the link. Its prob the 76LG. Yes i need two straps and 2 rivet presets. Might be interested in the whole 13' if you want to sell it..Bob

I just dug up some old CS-500 Echo lit and it says 76LP also. Thats the only saw i found that came with it and that was along time ago...Bob

Man its been many moons since I had or seen any of that 76 chain. I can't remember what I had but I'm thinking it was LG with the longer rakers.

I think it was actually a .325 pitch style cutter on it. I remember it using a 3/16" file to sharpen it.

I had some back in the day when my only "big" saw was a Poulan 306A and it seemed to pull a little easier on my 25" hardnosed bar when I just had to have the extra reach.

Sounds like Joyce has you fixed up though and thats good!

Man its been many moons since I had or seen any of that 76 chain. I can't remember what I had but I'm thinking it was LG with the longer rakers.

I think it was actually a .325 pitch style cutter on it. I remember it using a 3/16" file to sharpen it.

Yeah, that's why I originally paid through the nose for the chain and took the pics in order to do a thread on 76 chain. It was all to make you look good, Mark. And then you're always playin' "Gotcha'"!

I just got 2 NOS McCulloch bars with chain for my 20" saw, and the chain I received was Oregon 76SL - 70.

I was able to find on the Oregon site that the SL designates round ground chisel, ramped depth gauges, bumper tie straps with standard sequence.

However, nowhere could I find any reference to the 76.

Can someone tell me what this means?

BTW, the chain does a great job! Nice bite with great chip removal. This is the most agressive chain I've ever cut with. Not that it's anything on the professional level, but it's a huge difference than the original style chain that I've used up to this point.

Very old thread, but just in case some still need data.
This chain was OE on my Poulan 3500 type III.
Only data I could find was listed on old Oregon file container.
3/8", 25 degree top-plate filing angle, file-guide angle H (horizontal), .030" depth gauge, and uses a 4.5mm file.
The file was my bugger in that I could not find any 4.5mm files and called Oregon. They sent me files and a replacement chain. They recommended the 72V as a replacement. It does not have the bumper link between cutters but seems to fine. And is a higher profile cutter.
Specs: 60 degree side-plate & top-plate cutting angle, 25 degree top-plate filing angle, file-guide angle 10 degrees down, .025" depth guage, and uses a 7/32" file.
