Anyone have a 4.6, or 5.4 Ford spark plug blowout ??

Anyone dealt with a 4.6, or 5.4 Ford plug blowout ??

My buddy has a 99 F250 that just blew one.

Another buddy blew one on his 99 V10

My Dad owns an 01 Expedition 5.4, & Father in law has an 01 merc with 4.6 they have not had any trouble. Yet......

Sounds & looks like a gross engineering defect that Ford should take care of, but they arent.

I have heard differing stories as to when they corrected the problem.

Some say they fixed it in early 01 & some say they are bad up to 04 ??

Any info appreciated.

My friend blew one out on his 1998 expedition with the 5.4 liter in it. When I had my 97 f250 mine never blew a plug both of my heads were original. I think it was a major defect probably not as bad as the pinto though. I think that takes the cake for their mess ups.

A friend of mine blew one on his V10 Triton. From what I've gathered on the Ford forum they added some threads to the plug holes in the aluminum heads somewhere in 2003. Mines a 2004.
