I've seen a website about a year ago that some business in a foreign country doing stump grinding had one and had the machine inside of the van. Anyone here doing the same? Im considering in getting one, they are 5 cyl. diesel and heard they get good mpg. Any pics or similar vans would be great to see.

I want an Izusu NPR. I don't think my Carlton SP7015 TRX will fit in the back of a Sphincter, err, I mean Sprinter van.

Our farm supply guys (Don Beck Inc) have a whole fleet of them, and let me tell ya, they can pack them suckers full. The get good mileage, drive halfway decent (I've driven them, better than most FSV's), and are much nicer to walk in and out of. When I framed houses our gutter guys had one, they could stand up in the thing, and you aren't climbing in and out of it like you are with most full size vans. Slick setups with the high top, dually, and full racks inside.

They seem pretty nice vans, a SP4012 stump grinder or in that class would fit perfectly in there I would say. Im still trying to find that business that had one inside :monkey:

A 4012 size grinder will fit in the back of a 3/4 ton or 1 ton too.

The NPR is the way to go. I'lL get some pictures of my setup. I can fit my mini and the 7015 on the truck. Although I need to get some airride to smooth the bumps out. The 7015 by itself the little truck never feels it on there.

I looked at a Sprinter before I bought my last van. Plenty of space but my son-in-law works for GM and I had to do my part to keep them in business so I bought a 1 ton extended van. Being self contained with the stumper in the back seems like a sound move until you consider the consequences of what would happen in an accident. Getting pancaked by a stump grinder would be a nasty way to go.

There a pretty decent van. I've worked on a hand full of them, other than a couple wheel bearings and cr@p like that they seem to hold up pretty good.

They are a great running vehicle but when they break be prepared to pay when it needs repaired. Very few dealerships have techs trained to work on them. I'm one of the few independents who will work on them. The last repair jobs that came in each totaled over 2000 dollars. The oil filter cap takes a special socket which is hard to find. It took me almost two months to find one but now I have all three that are required. As to mpg the one DHL is running is getting between 25-30mpg running around doing deliveries.
