Just wondering if anyone know anything about this engine. on my bucket. I am thinking it is gone need a new starter because when you flip the switch to electric start nothing happens at all.

So right now we are having to start it by pull start which as you may know is very exhausting on this size engine. Especially since it is the style where you wrap the rope around to pull start it and there isn't alot of room up in the bed of the truck.

Just trying to get a line on what engine so if/when I need to get a new starter for it. I am ready.

Any help is appreciated.

Will post update tomorrow if when pulling it apart I find any information on it.

Hard to tell from the pictures but it looks like one of the single cylinder Onan engines, possibly an AJ. Can't be sure without knowing the model, but you might find that there isn't a starter. Most of this type use a 12 volt winding in the alternator / generator to crank the engine. Your problem could be related to the missing and loose pieces on the alternator. Those covers are to keep the dirt and weather out of the brush and commutator area. Is this a 12 volt DC setup or does it put out 110 volts AC?

Parts are available and if properly cared for the unit will last a lifetime.

I am thinking mine may work this way. because the pull start will not work unless you hook a battery to it.

I am guessing it puts out 110 volts ac because there are two out let on it one on the back end and one in the bucket.

the way the electric star is supposed to work is you just hold the toggle switch in the down position, an flip it up and leave it to pull start.

thanks for the help so far.
