I would like to find some ideal cut, about 2-3 inch thick boards to make chair bottoms out of with chiseling, carving etc. Anyone have any ideas where to find some oak?

I have some two inch oak that was cut about 2 years ago, or if you want something thicker I can cut you what you want.

OOPS, don't know how I missed this one. Welcome to all of the new MD guys. Did you find your slabs? I'm in the Frederick area also. Oak slabs should be no problem around here. I have 2 large dead Red Oaks I'll be dropping for firewood in a week or so. Was planning on milling the bottom 7' of the log for benches, usually cut those at 3". Good luck with your project, Joe.

I'm also in MD i have some 2" white oak slabs. and two large burr oak logs which i can cut to spec. I am on the Eastern Shore
