Finding the stuff and getting it here are two different things. I wanted to buy a German Dolmar calendar, it makes the Stihl one look tame! $7.50 U.S. funds, $26.10 shipping and $45.00 bank wire transfer fee. Too steep for me. Shipping on the 064 could easily top $200.00

that contras pretty nice.
ive got more than I can handle here now..

send him cash by registered and insured mail. I have bought cameras from Germany and Hong Kong and sent good old US Dollars and never had a problem. Its a little scary sending cash but with Registered Mail everyone who handles the envelope signs for it, so if there is a problem they will know where it was.
Or you can go to the currency exchange in NYC and get Euros
or have them arrange the transfer to their Exchanges branch in Germany for pick up by the other party.

Mail?

Steve here...
I got taken for $50 sending a Express letter through the Post office to Europe. a couple years back. I Then sent cash FEDEX and it got there no issues. Once the mail leaves the US there is no tracking it, because it out of there hands...I had plenty of smoke blown up my asse, when I called the US Postal Service on this issue. ANd they did not reemburse my cash I sent. They where very quick to highlite the area in there paper work that stated cash is not insurable.

Ebay contra

I won the bid on the Contra. It belonged to the guy's 91 year old father. He also said it was "rare" after the motor #s in the description. The seller spoke no english so I had to get a co worker to comunicate with him. He seems like a nice honest guy. Hope the transaction goes well.

German ebay

Hallo Jensen3200

I am sure the things will go well with the German Contra seller.

Here are the German Post shipping rates:

up to 5 kg 29 Euro (37 $US)
from 5 kg to 10 kg 39 Euro (50 $US)
from 10 kg to 20 kg 59 Euro (77 $US)

allow 6 weeks for delivery (sea freight)

I do see a lot of American bidders on ebay recently. The prices that are completly out of the range ! But that is good because it inceases the value of my collection !

As mentioned earlier the money transfer is very expensive and the Euro is at the worst point 1 Euro = 1,29 $US !!!!!!!

If you need any help get just let me know.

Shipping

They charged $79 euros, $130 Canadian, not sure if by boat or not. (air maybe?) My bank charged $30 Canadian to wire the money and probably made $12 for the exchange. $172 total, so a good part of $200 Canadian to get it. Just hoping it is very original and functional, and it should Stihl be worth it. Are those saws rare over there now?

Stihl Contra

jensen 32000

Stihl Contra is a a saw that never dies ! There are still many saws in the old loggers sheds but rarely come into the market. The one you got is typical as the old owner (91 years) probably died and the children sell it now.

What I see today is that people from Russia try buy large saws to take them back to Russia. They still use old Drushba's their and any old saw is better than what they can get hold of locally. You can get almost all parts for the Stihl Contra either new, used or converted to 070.

All the luck with your new Contra ! It realy looks good !

Top Plate

The saw looks real good, but the top plate looks like it missing the typical "Stihl log logo" with the blade cuttiin the log. You think that top plate is still available new? It is like the "Crown" of the saw, and looks good with a new one on top.

What kind of trouble do you have ? I could call for you. The problem of high shipping and Euro still applies.

I think I saw both items at a Stihl distributor in Farmington Hills close to Detroit.

The trouble is communication. I can get my english translated into german on the internet, but it's rough translation. The shipping cost does not bother me. I once had some items shipped from New
Zealand and that was quite costly. If I could find these items in the U.S. I would be very pleased however, I have only seen them in Germany
