I have not found much information about Uniforest winches, except for what is on the maker's website and what Hud-son has on theirs. I thought a Farmi was the way to go (and maybe it is), but it looks like a 40EH or 50EH from Uniforest with the push button winch control (through a self contained hydraulic system) is a good system to make operating the equipment quite simple. Does Farmi have a comparable system in an upgraded version?

I see that Uniforest winches are made in Slovenia (part of former Yugoslavia) while Farmi are made in Finland.

Please let me know if anyone has experience with Uniforest. I know there are a lot of fans of Farmi out there, so I welcome their comments too.

Thanks

I am going to bump for Farmi, My dad has one and we have been using it for 8 years now. I dont know much about Uniforest besides looking at the website. Pricing would be a big factor in my mind because the Uniforest mechanical winches look pretty much Identical to the Farmi. The hydro ones I am sure are going to command a higher price. Whereas the mechanical ones are just a big huge clutch driven by the PTO. Power to weight wise, the winch would lift the front end of the tractor before it would bog the PTO.

My dad has his on a 1964 International Harvester and works well, Winch can sure pull more than the tractor can drag out of the woods, thats for sure!!
