I bought primers as well as powder several years ago whenever I saw them on sale. I just looked and still have 15k of all types on the shelf. I have several 8lb kegs of Promo I bought when they were on sale for under $100. Seems expensive at the time but pull the trigger if you see them for a reasonable price, nothing is going to get cheaper I'm afraid.

I meant to say I have 15k of each type of primers. SPP, SPM,SRP, SLP. Not so many shotgun but still a couple of sleeves of Cheddite I saw for a good price on sale online somewhere. I just started loading shotgun so that Promo is going to come in handy.

Mine sure fits the spot between my 30-06 and 416 Mag. No real need for it but I like it anyways and I can feed it squib loads with 357mag lead for plinking.

I drove a white 1992 New Yorker for a couple years. Mine had an all blue interior with plush velour upholstery. That was the epitome of 90s big three "luxury". Drove like a boat but it sure was nice on the highway. Popped my favorite cassette in the radio and just cruised.

I also try to use ball power when I can. One thing, when working with 6mm Rem and 22-250 I found necking closer to the lands would make the bullet strike higher. Every caliber and chambering has a sweet spot for bullet weight, speed, and bullet drop like 22-250 is 55g bullet weight, 222/223 50g, 6mm Rem and 243 win is 85g. 25-06 100g.

The ballistic advantage of matching bullet weight and speed in a caliber for flat trajectory is where I normally start. I look for a bullet weight and performance that best fits the game I am hunting. My favorites have always been nosler solid base, you could shoot a lighter bullet for better trajectory and get the same performance that you get with a heavier weight bullet.

The old Nosler solid base used to be my favorite, but when they went with ballistic tips they got too soft (IMO).

I find the Barnes copper bullets to be very dependable. Never got the original TSX to shoot well but had much better luck with the TTSX in 30-06, 300 Win Mag and in my 338-06. My 270 WSM likes the 129 grain Barnes LRX, which has a VG BC. I also like that they don't ruin as much meat as many conventional bullets. Was able to salvage a lot more backstrap from last years Buck shot with the 338-06 because of that.

Driving home last night the 68 started to shudder and stumble . Really had a hard time pulling any incline . This morning I checked it out . Did the pull the wire off the plug to see if it effects it . No difference in idle on number one or three plugs . Pulled them out to find this

Center electrode burned out on both the rest of the plugs were good . Changed them out checked the timing it was dead nuts on . The plugs have about 1000 miles on them . And they are Motorcraft made in USA plugs . Little baffled to say the least

I don't think that I have ever seen a plug burned back that bad. It is definetly burning oil. I worked on cars and trucks for a living for 10 years back in 70's. Maybe the electrodes are made in China and the plugs assembled here. Time for some better spark plugs.

Could be . Thinking I have a lean condition maybe a bad intake gasket . Not going to look too hard at it since I’m replacing the motor .
When I rebuild this one I’ll look at it closely to determine the cause

Yesterday's fun was more cleaning up of last years fallen trees. Picture one, dead Ash tree.


A few of you might remember this farm implement that I posted about in an Oak tree. Yesterday I cut the Oak down without destroying the implement. I cut a 1 1/2" v notch halfway into the tree in hopes that the tree would bounce off the stump when it came down. My plan worked perfectly. The tree jumped foward a few inches missing the implement. All the brush got chipped up and the tree got bucked up. It now resides in my splitting pile.

That stump is now a nice seat. Trying to remove the rest of it is going to be a very time consuming project. I can't cut the stump off at the bottom without cutting the wheel.

I don't reload these days, but everything has started to drop, hope that trend continues.

Wouldn't notice that at the grocery store. Today was my day off for veterans day, wife had off too, so we did our normal Saturday running around today. $482.57 at Walmart. This did include oil and filters for the truck, her car and the expedition. That was close to $100.00 by its self. The rest was groceries.
Dog food is still up there too. I can't wait till zade is over a year old and can eat the same food at zeke and ziva. $69.99 for a 47lb of puppy food. Just nuts.
Good news, I scored 2 full boxes of vented soffit for $2.00 per piece and 10 pieces of u channel for the same price. Grabbed a few electrical boxes and misc 90* conduit pieces, ta's and connectors for $5.00.

I just bought BLSL chicken breast for $2.49/lb, Boneless Pork loin, 1.77/lb and country style ribs for 1.49/lb. I think the hamburger was 3.49. 12 oz. bacon, $2.00 This is on the gulf coast. Cheaper than a couple years ago. In the spring, they were selling boston butts for $.99/lb. LA based grocery chain. Beats the snot out of wally world.

Yesterday afternoon I was out picking up rounds from my January cutting spree and dumping them in my future splitting pile. I love this dumping attachment. I wish that I had gotten one of these many years ago. Problem is I didn't know they even existed.

I found this Ash tree that looks like bears have used it as a training post for climbing. I still have quite a few live Ash trees. This one is the only one that I saw with this kind of bark damage. The tree is not dead.

That is the first Ash tree on our property that I have seen like this. I have taken down a lot of them that are dead or dying. Last January I dropped 24 dead ones in a 100 yard square area. None of them had any bark damage like this. If that it EAB it must have been extremely covered with larvae. This tree was in full bloom this Summer. I didn't see any D holes in it.

Unfortunately, wally world and the Mennonite subway are the two closest grocery stores with decent prices. The decent cheapo places are pretty far away, any savings I'd get from the food would be lost in fuel from running around so much. Kinda a catch 22 if you will. Sucks, but it is what it is. There's a nice Amish cheapo shop near my wife's grandmother's place, we stop whenever we go down to visit. Don't get anything perishable, just canned and boxed goods. It's dirt cheap.
